The United Transportation Union is the largest railroad operating union in North America, with more than 500 locals. The UTU represents employees on every Class 1 railroad, as well as employees on many regional and shortline railroads. It also represents bus and mass transit employees on approximately 45 bus and transit systems and has recently grown to include airline pilots, dispatchers and other airport personnel. |

The Association of American Railroads works with elected officials and leaders in Washington, D.C. on critical rail transportation issues to ensure that the railroads meet America’s transportation needs today and in the future. The organization oversees a 140,000-mile rail network and sets new standards for innovation, safety and technology. AAR members include the major freight railroads in the United States, Canada and Mexico, as well as Amtrak. |

The MMWRRI is the combined effort of nine Midwestern state departments of transportation, which have worked since 1996 to plan and implement a 3,000 mile high speed rail system to connect the region. Under the plan about 90 percent of the Midwest’s population will be within one hour of a Midwest Regional Rail System (MWRRS) station or 30 minutes of a feeder bus station.

Established in 2000, the purposes of the MIPRC are to promote, coordinate and support regional improvements to passenger rail service. The MIPRC works with the public and private sectors at the federal, state and local levels to ensure coordination among the various entities having an interest in passenger rail service and to promote Midwestern interests regarding passenger rail. |
